Starting from July 9th and continuing weekly from the 11th the covers shall be lifted on "The Beginning" the first installment of back-story/side-story being written by myself. July 11th will mark the first time any part of the currently written story has been revealed to the public, so as you can probably guess I'm a bit nervous. I'll tell you now my writing skills are self taught so don't expect great things of it, it's mainly only to fill in the events that will happen around the "Project Alpha" campaign that you as the Specialist will hear about but won't necessarily see.
Now before we begin there is some of that legal jargon that needs to be taken care of.
First written in 2005-2006 Revised in 2007 and 2008 and extended in 2009By the way, if you want to contact me about posting it anywhere else, you can both contact and email me via the Community Forums where we can discuss the matter further.
Now that that's out of the way, we can all look forward to the 11th of July! Postings should hopefully be made at around 1pm AEST (GMT+10)

It's been a while since our last post about Project Alpha, our focus has been a bit all over the place and for a while we somewhat wandered from our laid out path. However we got some bearings and made our way back on track so we've got some more details about Project Alpha for you here today.
Storyline:
Although we're not focusing on the story aspect just yet (we're getting our features and what not organised first), we do have a basic story plot lined out. I will quote that in just a moment, as many of you will notice already however, the ORAF series is preparing to come out of the darkness and be revealed for all to read. As the focus of Project Alpha is based in the ORAF universe I figured I'd best get a move on and start to give you all the history and story that happens before, and around Project Alpha (some details in which that shall intertwine with the project).
Story Plot:
The Specialist Program was created as a trial to find new ways of gaining the upper hand in the war against the Factionists. Essentially, the idea of a Specialist is to be a one soldier army capable of inflicting severe damage where ever they are deployed. With the Factionists continuing their ruthless assault on both the Opians and the Humans the Specialists, 600 in all, were deployed into the field in stages to assault attacking fleets and eliminate the Factionist threat piece by piece. The Specialists are not only threatend by the Factionists however, with the continuing threat of a Kurul'ak assault, the pressure is focused squarely on the Specialists to solve one threat before another tears the Opian race appart.
Project Name:
We've got a shortlist of project names now, and although we haven't picked one we are leaning in the direction of one of them, expect word on that by the next details update.
Project Details:
As we've already stated we're working in the Source SDK to build Project Alpha; we're building Alpha in two stages, a multiplayer mod for testing and asset creation to ensure everything we'd like to do is humanly possible, before creating a single player mod that involves the Specialist story plot, this is the easiest way for us to go about it which makes it easy on everyone involved.
Project Timeline:
At this point in time we're still in the early stages so we're not putting a timeline on it yet.
Other Additions and Information:
There isn't really anything else that needs to be said in regards to Project Alpha just yet, keep an eye on this space for more details relating to both Project Alpha and the ORAF universe.
Chapters will be starting soon from the first ORAF story "The Beginning", a backstory explaining how it all came to be; so keep an eye out for that as well.
That's all for now, until next time!
Scott.

Last week a post was made about the series we'll be publishing here written by myself; although I'm not quite ready to start posting it yet, I've prepared a bit of a back story to how the military institution was formed. So, without further interuption, read on:
|
So there's a bit of a teaser, if I can call it that, for what's coming, hopefully I'll ready to start posting very soon, as I've waited far too long for this to start happening and don't want to wait much longer. For now though, you'll have to sit with what has been written, enjoy that little bit and we'll get started soon.
Regards,
Scott.
P.S. More news on Project Alpha should hopefully be posted next week, we'll have some details for you all to feast on.

The Opian Royal Air Force series, a series authoured by BlueIrn Studios' Scott Battye is coming to the website very soon. Stay tuned for more news, as we'll bring you the first installment "The Beginning", with a section (chapter) posted each week. The postings of these chapters mark a long path that has been travelled by this series, taking almost 5 years to actually be revealed in any way, shape, or form to the public; and after two re-writes and four revisions we're looking forward to finally revealing it.
Stay tuned, it's coming soon.

So far we've been very light on revelation of details relating to Project Alpha.
The actual fact is, although we've planning this project for some time we've only just started thoroughly working through some of our ideas. So it's been rather hard to release too many details on the projectsince we haven't set many details in concrete. We're moving on with this quickly though as we look forward to getting a roll on with the project as soon as possible. Now that's out of the way, what details do we have so far?
An actual project name?
As of yet we still don't have a project name, it will continue to operate under the working title "Project Alpha". Once we do have a suitable name for the project, you'll know.
An idea of what it's going to be?
No back story or juicy details of the like just yet, but we feel confident in revealing that it is going to be a Half-Life 2/HL2:DM based project. We'll be using Half-Life 2 Deathmatch to create a multiplayer experience before carrying the project over to a single player campaign mod.
An indication of how long it will take?
When it's done it's done.
Any other details?
We look forward to revealing more details at a later date. At the moment though as I mentioned earlier we don't have any juicy details to reveal just yet, sit tight though, we're working on it.
So there you have it, some early details relating to Project Alpha for your. . . enjoyment? You can discuss these details and other Project Alpha related discussions on our forums.
Until next time,
Scott.
